Wisconsin Educational Opportunity Programs (WEOP)

  • seek out student with college potential and encourage them to go on to higher education
  • provide students with educational counseling to raise their aspirations and confidence
  • provide follow-up services after college placement to enhance the student's changes for success
  • encourage higher education institutions to provide for the unique needs of WEOP students
  • provide bilingual counseling

WEOP's purpose is to help educationally and economically disadvantaged students continue their education. This is accomplish through five statewide and two regional programs:

WEOP can help you:

  • increase your early awareness of educational opportunities
  • apply for the TIP grant
  • clarify your vocational and educational goals
  • select appropriate post-secondary options
  • fill out admission forms and arrange for college entrance tests
  • apply for financial aid by explaining the process and helping fill out the FAFSA financial aid forms
  • apply for precollege programs
  • provide scholarship information, college catalogs, educational brochures, or admission, and financial aid forms

What is expected of participants?

  • a 4-year commitment for high school aged students
  • active participation in scheduled activities
  • commitment to stay in high school and graduate
  • desire to continue education beyond high school
  • willingness to work hard academically
  • willingness to follow all program rules and policies
