Application Instructions

To apply to a precollege program you must fill out an application for your program of interest. Get in touch with the program contact person to obtain an application or visit your school of interest’s website.

In addition to filling out the program application, you must also submit the DPI Precollege Scholarship application to be eligible for funding.

Send the completed DPI Precollege Scholarship application and a current report card to the program contact person at the college or university offering the program that you are interested in.

The following are important points to remember when filling out the application:

  • You must have your parent or guardian sign the application. Send the original application with original signature of your parent or guardian to the college.
  • You must be eligible for free and reduced price school meals.
  • The application must be signed by a school counselor or school designee who has verified that the applicant is eligible for free and reduced price school meals. If free and reduced price school meals eligibility cannot be obtained, you must submit a copy of parents’ payroll check stubs for the previous month and indicate the number of members in the household.
  • You must be a Wisconsin resident. If not, a parent with joint custody must be a Wisconsin resident.
  • You must have completed the 5th grade but not have graduated from high school.
  • A student may receive only one scholarship in the summer and one scholarship per semester. Each semester counts as one scholarship. An academic year program would be considered two scholarships if the student attends the fall session and the spring session.

Funding Cycles
Summer Session: July – August
Fall Session: First Semester
Spring Semester: Second Semester – June
